The Reverend David K. Shumate, District Executive Minister, Virlina District Church of the Brethren, will speak at the Wednesday Noon Service which begins at 12:05pm today, October 14. His sermon is titled “A Living Sacrifice” and the scripture is Romans 12:1-2.
Lunch is available in the social hall immediately following the service for a suggested $6 donation. The menu is Baked Spaghetti, Tossed Salad, French Bread, Garlic Butter, and Ice Cream Sundae.
David K. Shumate has been District Executive Minister for the Virlina District of the Church of the Brethren for nearly twenty-three years. He previously served as pastor in Pulaski, Virginia and Woodford County, Illinois. A native of Beckley, West Virginia, he is a graduate of Concord University and Bethany Theological Seminary. David was the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference Moderator at San Diego, California in 2009 and is former president of the Virginia Council of Churches.
