Join us today for the Wednesday Noon Service. Rev. David Mucha, Coordinator of Congregation Care at Greene Memorial is speaking. His sermon is “Going Good” and the scripture text is Genesis 45;1-8 and Romans 8:26-28. Among those we will be praying for during the service are the Roanoke City’s Office of Communications and the individuals who staff it: Melinda Mayo, Communications and Media Officer, and Timothy Martin, Communications and Media Coordinator.
Lunch is served in the social hall immediately following the service for a suggested $6 donation. The menu is Pinto Bean Soup or Potato Soup, Fresh Fruit, Hot Rolls and Cornbread, and Molasses Cookies.
Worshipers are invited to leave a donation in the basket in the narthex. Every penny of the donations received goes to help RAM House in its work of providing support for those in need of food, warmth, and shelter.
Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all those who stood by him, and he cried out, “Send everyone away from me.” So no one stayed with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers. 2 And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it.3 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?” But his brothers could not answer him, so dismayed were they at his presence.
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me.” And they came closer. He said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. 5 And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. 6 For the famine has been in the land these two years; and there are five more years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest.7 God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. 8 So it was not you who sent me here, but God; he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt. Genesis 45:1-8
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes[a] with sighs too deep for words. 27 And God,[b] who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit[c] intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.[d]
28 We know that all things work together for good[e] for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:26-28
