Richard Cummins to Play 50th Anniversary Concert
At Second Presbyterian Church, Petersburg
In 1964, Richard was asked to design the specifications for a new organ at the church in Petersburg where he grew up and on Tuesday evening, the 2nd of March 1965 he played the dedicatory program to the largest crowd ever gathered in that church.
Now, nearly fifty years later, to the day, he has been invited by the church to repeat the program of fifty years ago. While the 2015 program won’t be exactly the same because that original concert also included three vocal solos sung by Rita Cummins, most of it will be the same, including four compositions he wrote especially for that occasion, each of which was dedicated to his four former organ teachers.
The 50th anniversary concert is scheduled for the 1st of March at 4pm.
