Rev. Bob Garner, Minister Emeritus of Greene Memorial Church, is the speaker at today’s Wednesday Noon Service. The title of his sermon is “The Secret Work of God,” and the scripture text is Philippians 4:1-6. During today’s service we will especially pray for Steve Barnett, deputy Superintendent of Schools for Roanoke City Public Schools.

Worshipers are invited to leave a donation in the basket in the narthex. Every penny of the donations received goes to help RAM House in its work of providing support for those in need of food, warmth, and shelter.

Lunch is available in the social hall immediately following the service for a suggested $6 donation. Today’s menu: Meat Loaf, Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans, Fruit Salad, and Ice Cream.

1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.  I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you also, my loyal companion,[b] help these women, for they have struggled beside me in the work of the gospel, together with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.

Rejoice[c] in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.[d] Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.    Philippians 4:1-6
