Ezekiel 47:9 “Wherever the river flows, every living thing that moves will thrive.” (CEB)

The Journey has begun…

Pastor Joanna, earlier this month, made us aware of a significant honor for our congregation made possible by the Lily Endowment and Wesley Theological Seminary – our participation in The Source Collaborative. The journey has begun with our first meeting taking place in early January via Zoom to gather, pray and learn with other churches from Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia. We also got to meet our coach the Rev. Barbara Miner from Floris UMC in Herndon, Virginia who will walk with us and guide us through the 2-year process.

The verses that will sustain this journey come from the prophet Ezekiel 47:

He said to me, “Human one, do you see?” Then he led me back to the edge of the river. When I went back, I saw very many trees on both banks of the river. He said to me, “These waters go out to the eastern region, flow down the steep slopes,[a] and go into the Dead Sea.[b] When the flowing waters enter the sea, its water becomes fresh. Wherever the river flows, every living thing that moves will thrive. There will be great schools of fish, because when these waters enter the sea, it will be fresh. Wherever the river flows, everything will live.”

We prayed and discussed the interaction with living water. Our team from Greene openly shared ways we see living water at our church and places that need living water.

Please pray for this process and our team as we all discern the next steps for Greene Memorial UMC to thrive. The Source Collaborative team from Greene Memorial UMC consists of Pastor Joanna Paysour, Mary Ellen Campbell, Debbie Brown, Ann Seddon, Jayne Andrews, Emily Mayhew, and Brad Stephens.
